streetlife
Nyama Choma means grilled meat in Kiswahili. Every village on the main road has at least 1 choma zone or Choma palace! Packed busses are a common sight but the most striking is the amazing amount of backs filled with charcoal and the impact of deforestation of large areas along every road we travelled.Tuesday, September 28, 2010

smiles for miles
Last week we have been on the road with Golden Banda. After Zambia we drove eastward to Malawi and further north to Tanzania. Some things are different some things are still the same: original shop names, nsima, converted seacontainers and painted advertisements are just a few.Sunday, August 8, 2010

energy
While Obama pleads for alternative energy (the movie HOME is definitely a must see http://www.home-2009.com/us/index.html ) the common cooking is done here on (BP) brazers with charcoal, the wood is cut down and taken home on a bike or on their head.Sunday, May 30, 2010

Keep Choma clean and healthy week

The council is responsible for waste management in Choma township. Waste is collected from bins in the town centre and from waste collection bays in certain residential areas and markets and delivered to the official dumping site on land near to the airstrip. There is no systematic waste collection service in the majority of residential areas or from individual house and businesses. In Zambia the most common method of domestic and commercial waste management is by burning or burying on the premises.
