fishing
About 90% of food must be imported in Cape Verde; fishing is an economic activity, which development on industrial basis could help Cape Verde fill the food deficit gap and earn some through export of fish. Today fishing only contributes 1,5% to the GDP. The pictures are taken at 1. Sal - Santa Maria 2. Sao Vincente - Mindelo 3. San Antao - Ponta del Sol

fingerprint
The idea of a wedding tree is another great idea from Etsy and a wedding blog. I designed my own tree (gastenboek boom) in Adobe Illustrator which I printed at a local copy shop and bought the ink pads at Action. The guests were provided with a piece of paper for testing and tissues for cleaning.
toppers
Goosegrease
The cake toppers that we saw were all dull. Luckily the "best-webshop-ever": Etsy, has several cool other options. We bought the wooden figures from goosegrease (http://www.etsy.com/shop/goosegrease?ref=seller_info) (€13) and painted them ourselves
wedding stationary

We designed our own "wedding stationary" existing of save-the-date fridge magnets, lasercut invitation cards and customised stamps. The fishes from the card can easily be pressed out and were used for the mobile on the wedding day. Our inspiration came from the harbour and the sculptures at Scheveningen (See old blog post)
My sister gave me this book to write the nicest and longest love letter to my special love, 1 page inspired me to use chalk on our walls as a decoration.

Blossom
The Sweelinckplein is a landmark near my house and this beautiful park is starring in many dutch movies. Every spring I think of taking a photo however it needs a foreign guest to really go there.

Crisis
foto:www.nai.nl
Berlage's first plans dating from 1920 were impossible to build due to the extensive design and high cost during the economic crisis. Years passed and the plan disappeared from agenda's. It was only when the then director threatened with his resignment, that Berlage was given the order to make a sober design. This design was approved in and construction started in 1931; opening took place in 1935. (source: http://www.gemeentemuseum.nl/index.php?id=034125)

office make over
I daily pass this building on my bike. The facade of this former PTT office has been stripped and transformed into a luxurious Hilton hotel. (the photos and more information can be found on: www.guldenfeniks.nl/inzendingen/2011/transformatie/hilton_hotel_den_haag )
